This cork fabric is handcrafted in Portugal using very high-quality cork shavings. After the planks are sliced into thin cork sheets, the most beautiful are chosen one by one for this purpose. Then they are put together side by side and glued to different supports/backings. Coloured cork fabric is hand painted and a final protector is applied in order to reinforce natural cork features. Depending on your product you must choose a different backing and our manufacturing process allows us to work with multiple options. The synthetic backings (or even the double-sided) will be great if you need resistance, higher thickness or even pliability. If sustainability is your main goal or you plan to use it in clothing making, you must choose one of our oeko_tex certified or organic cotton backings (including a hemp and cotton option) and you’ll have a 100% plant-based and biodegradable product.
