Our cork fabric is handcrafted in Portugal using high-quality cork shavings. After the planks are sliced into thin cork sheets, each piece is individually chosen for its exquisite beauty. These selected sheets are then assembled side by side and bonded to various supports/backings. Coloured cork fabric is hand-painted, and a final protective layer is applied to enhance natural cork features. You can learn more about the cork fabric manufacturing process here
Depending on your specific product, you can choose from a range of different backings. Our manufacturing process allows us to work with multiple options. If sustainability is your primary concern, especially if you intend to use the fabric for clothing, we recommend selecting one of our oeko-tex certified or organic cotton backings, which includes a hemp and cotton option. This choice ensures you have a 100% plant-based and biodegradable product.
Additionally, we also offer "standard" cork fabrics made with synthetic backings. Feel free to reach out if these options better suit your preferences.
