HOW IS IT CRAFTED: ultra-thin cork sheets, sliced from premium cork planks, are carefully selected and then hand-assembled and bonded to various supports. Following this, they enter a press, undergo sanding, and finally receive a hand-applied protector with pigments, adding colour and enhancing cork’s natural features. Further insights into the cork fabric manufacturing process can be found here.
BACKINGS: the flexible manufacturing process makes it possible to offer various options, tailored to your product. Prioritising sustainability, and especially for clothing, we offer Oeko-Tex certified, organic cotton and hemp backing, for 100% plant-based, biodegradable products - setting us apart in the cork fabric industry.
In case synthetic-backed "standard" cork fabric options better suit your preferences, feel free to reach out. We offer a swatch book showcasing all backings options, which you can purchase here.
CORK: through a sustainable harvesting process that allows for bark extraction without harming cork-oak trees and a regrowth cycle of nine years, cork becomes a renewable resource with a history dating back thousands of years. Join us in supporting this tradition while using cork creatively, and our forests thank you
USES: depends on the backing. Varies from clothing, especially jackets and vests, bags, wallets, purses, totes and other fashion accessories, cases, sleeves, footwear, as well as upholstery, furniture and throw pillows for home decor projects. May be sewed with a regular sewing machine and glued with water-based adhesive.
